Peripherally Specified Homomorphs of Link Groups

چکیده
Johnson and Livingston have characterized peripheral structures in homomorphs of knot groups. We extend their approach to the case of links. The main result is an algebraic characterization of all possible peripheral structures in certain homomorphic images of link groups.

Homomorphisms from Mapping Class Groups
This paper concerns rigidity of the mapping class groups. We show that any homomorphism φ : Modg → Modh between mapping class groups of closed orientable surfaces with distinct genera g > h is trivial if g ≥ 3 and has finite image for all g ≥ 1. Some implications are drawn for more general homomorphs of these groups.
متن کاملEvaluating the Performance of the Buckling Restrained Braces in Tall Buildings with peripherally braced frames
In recent years, seismic design of structures has been undergoing significant changes due to increasing demand for optimization and minimizing the level of damage and reducing the cost of structural repairs. Development of analytical methods and remarkable improvements of computer performance have been among the factors which influenced the design of structures. A lot of research has been condu...
متن کاملRandomized controlled trials in central vascular access devices: A scoping review
BACKGROUND Randomized controlled trials evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for central venous access devices, however, high complication rates remain. Scoping reviews map the available evidence and demonstrate evidence deficiencies to focus ongoing research priorities. METHOD A scoping review (January 2006-December 2015) of randomized controlled trials evaluating the effectiveness of...
متن کاملIntegrated Link Adaptation and Power Control for Wireless IP Networks
In this paper, we prove that the problem of maximizing data throughput by adaptive modulation and power control while meeting packet error requirements is NP-complete. A heuristic algorithm for integrated link adaptation and power control is thus proposed to achieve specified error rates and to improve overall throughput for real-time applications in wireless IP networks. The algorithm divides ...
متن کاملPericardial Effusion in an Extreme Low Birth Weight Neonate with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter
Background: Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade are the rare complications of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC insertion) in extreme low birth weight infants. In this regard, paying attention to these complications is of utmost importance, because they can result in infant death. Case report: The case of our infant is a sa...
